Who Qualifies
Eligibility:
Must have a child under 18 (or under 19 if in school) living in the home, or be pregnant.
Low income and limited assets.
Must cooperate with child support and usually participate in work activities.
Lifetime limit is 48–60 months in Georgia.
Application Process
Apply online here OR call 1-877-423-4746 during business hours, mail the form, or go in person to the DFCS office. You may need documents and an interview. Processing can take up to 45 days.
Description
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) provides monthly cash assistance to help low-income families with children under 18 (or pregnant women) cover basic needs such as rent, utilities, food, and other living expenses. It also includes help finding employment.
