Application Process: Helps people who use SNAP grow more of their own fresh food at home. When the program holds an event (often at farmers markets or community gardens in Georgia), participants with SNAP can **use their EBT card to buy plant starts (young plants) and seedlings at 50% off the regular price.

At many events, participants also receive free gardening supplies, such as pots, soil, gloves, tools, and guides so they can grow fruits and vegetables at home while supplies last.

Description

An initiative that began in April 2020 in response to Georgians on SNAP facing limited shopping options for fresh local food during the COVID-19 pandemic, led by Wholesome Wave Georgia and Food Well Alliance it provides households on SNAP with 50% off local fruit and vegetable plant purchases when using EBT – plus free gardening kits – to grow fresh food at home.
