Who Qualifies: Georgia residents who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print-disabled and cannot effectively read standard printed newspapers or magazines qualify for AUIAS. Eligibility typically includes individuals with vision loss, physical disabilities, or neurological conditions that substantially limit print access.
Individuals who can read standard print without accommodation or whose reading difficulty is due solely to limited literacy, lack of education, or language barriers unrelated to a disability do not qualify. Non-Georgia residents are also excluded from this service.
Application Process: To use the service, Georgia residents apply through the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). Once eligibility is confirmed, users are issued a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that allows them to access the service using a touch-tone telephone.
