Who Qualifies

Georgia residents who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print-disabled and cannot effectively read standard printed newspapers or magazines qualify for AUIAS. Eligibility typically includes individuals with vision loss, physical disabilities, or neurological conditions that substantially limit print access.

Application Process

To use the service, Georgia residents apply through the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). Once eligibility is confirmed, users are issued a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that allows them to access the service using a touch-tone telephone.

Description

The Georgia AUIAS is a service, enacted by the Georgia Legislature, that provides blind and print disabled citizens the opportunity to listen to newspapers and magazines by calling a toll-free number. NFB Newsline is a free information service for blind and print-disabled individuals offering audio access to more than 500 newspapers and magazines, plus television listings and other publications via phone, internet, or digital device. It helps subscribers stay informed about local, national, and world news.
