Who Qualifies

To participate in Weekend Respite, a child should:

Be medically fragile (examples include G-tube dependence, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, genetic disorders, etc.)
Not require ventilator support, have an active infectious disease, or exhibit aggressive behaviors that cannot safely be managed in the program setting.
Must be under the age of 21

Application Process

1. Call the program: Contact Southwest Christian Care at 770-969-8354 and ask for Hope House to begin the process.

2. Assessment: Staff will talk with you about your child’s needs and eligibility.

3. Referral and questionnaire: Complete a short referral and questionnaire with program staff.

4. Meet the team: If eligible, you’ll be invited to meet staff and see the facilities

Description

The Weekend Respite Program at Southwest Christian Care’s Hope House gives families of children with medically complex needs a safe, nurturing place for their child to stay over the weekend while caregivers take a break. This service supports children with a range of medical and developmental challenges by providing compassionate care in a peaceful, welcoming environment. The program includes activities and therapy-focused areas. Parents and caregivers can use this time to rest, attend appointments, run errands, or simply recharge, knowing their child is being cared for with dignity and kindness. There is no charge to families for participation; the program operates through community support and donations.
